OVO editions is a new editor of design furniture. They are based in Brussels and start their  work with the famous Belgian designer, Pol Quadens. Their goal is to develop innovative and composite materials and put forward talented designers interested in new experiences. Pol Quadens designed for OVO an exceptional collection in Corian® and carbon fiber. His creativity was challenged by the multiple properties of the Corian®.

Covitaca is a creative studio founded by Covadonga Carreño Álvarez that develops interior, graphic and industrial design projects.

I like to know that I’ll be able to work at something that I enjoy doing, where I don’t mind spending hours in front of a screen or a blank sheet of paper …I feel fortunate because I can do what I want! “In” as “inside” and “fashionable”, implies the brand-new concept of living in the interior of nature.

Xcellent Design & Products International, the only Taiwanese design team invited to 2007 SaloneSatellite, proposes “In-Nature series” as the theme project for the exhibition. Inspired by the current “LOHAS” spirit, the naming of “In-Nature” reflects the introspective attitudes of embracing nature in a modern approach. Xcellent design team think modern living, like nature, could be organic and diverse as well, and thus present a series of furniture that bear this core concept. “In-Nature furniture series” contains the waXne sofa, Cleave Cloth Hanger, and Purlight Floor Set, among which a lot of natural elements, such as pebbles, bamboo, creatures, could be discovered. More than merely borrowing the forms, Xcellent design team extract the subtlety of uncommonly noticed features and interpret them in modern language, applying latest technology, such as the electric illuminator and the LED light bulbs. Xcellent design team’s innovative approach of bringing the spirit of nature into the living space could inspire ground-breaking possibilities for contemporary living.

waXne Armchair Set
The waXne armchair could bring you to a higher level of the enjoyment of sitting. The seat cushion is made of velvet fabric that provides a sensational touch and a spectacular sitting experience. When you sit on the sofa, you can relax to rest your arms, books, a cup of coffee, or any gadget on the ample table board, making it as comfortable as you want. If you feel like tilting to reading a book, watching a movie, or taking a nap, the tiny pebbles at the bottom could help you in just a move.

Cleave Cloth Hanger

CLEAVE CLOTH HANGER

The original idea is inspired by the scene of bamboo-cleaving, as bamboo culms split when chopped down. Based on the concept, we add illumination to increase the amazing and comforting factor. As a cloth hanger is usually located at the corner of entrance, it’s delightful to have a lit-up cloth hanger that welcomes you home.

The top hoop as the switch to the light can be lifted up to simultaneously spread the branches and turn on the light on the middle hoop or the other way around. The bottom hoop constrains the 6 branches to make a stable base structure. Echoing the design concept, a feeling of warm modernity is further enhanced by the mixed textures of wood and metal.

Purlight Floor SetS

The concept derives from the waXne series and develops into an alternative version of a set of floor chairs and a floor table. Of the same spirit of getting close to nature, Purlight sitting set resembles the polished pebbles. The floor table borrows from the waXne sofa the beautiful standing animal patterns, equipped with electric illuminator as well, and likewise twinkles in the dark. The hollowed handle at the back of the floor chair allows you to carry it wherever you please to go. The vast area of sitting surface is comfortable for anyone whether to sit with legs crossed or stretched. When the chairs are not in use, you can effortlessly pile them up giving more space to the room.

Purlight restores the boundless lifestyle of old days, when people sat on the ground enjoying the breeze, sipping a cup of tea, or chatting with friends.

Between Coat Rack

Wall-mounted hallway storage designed to also hold the smaller items not normally accommodated by a coat rack. The radiating pattern of large wire loops allows hanging of coats, brollies and bags. As the hoops converge towards the centre­ the wires get closer and closer, creating wedge-shaped spaces which comfortably grip small items such as gloves and hats between them. The spaces between the converging wires are as useful as the wire hangers themselves.

Onda Table

Like the UpDown rug this low table creates an optical illusion. As you move around the table at certain points the surface seems to stretch or ripple. From certain angles the incremental spacing of the slats trick the eye into believing the surface is curved rather than flat.

At its outer edges the density of the slats creates a near continuous surface to place cups and plates on. The centre, where slats are more widely spaced, is more suited to larger items (fruit bowls, magazines, books etc).

Readers Block

A simple compact side table and magazine rack. Two sizes of CNC routered plywood components are built up on their edges in a repeated pattern, creating a finely lined decorative table surface with storage voids and dividers underneath. Magazines rest directly on the floor, held upright between the larger vertical panels. Suitable for use throughout the home, whether living room, bedroom or loo!
