Aaron Feliu and Nacho Frias, two designers that in a parallel way of its own projects, join to personal experience in the field of design.In this way Ms Simon is born, a
creature that allows us to design without rules or limitations.

THIS DOES NOT WORK
“Ceci n’est pas une chaise,” some would say … This is not a chair or a table of course.
It is obvious that a table is used to put objects on the surface, and a chair to sit comfortably.
This sweeping definition creates a concept that prevails in the primary function versus form.

With this concept we developed in an ironic way that some products apparently do not meet its primary function,
but if we approach and experience, we see that above all these objects meet its mission: OPERATE.

 
INSTABLE
At first glance it seems that this table does not comply with their role. His apparent inclination is solved with a transparent level that returns the horizontal to the table.

SENSILLA
It seems that something is wrong in the design of this chair. At first, what we see as a backup exaggeratedly low, which gives discomfort to the chair, is actually an armrest.
The real support is a sheet of methacrylate that is unnoticed because of its transparency.

The aesthetic based on pure lines, seeking to reflect the essence of these items of furniture, giving greater importance to the concept.

Tuex chair offers you a comfortable cocktail of satisfaction, elegance, pleasure and infinite relax to savour in your terrace, in your pool, in your favourite club, at the beach, or in the intimacy of your home.

Tuex’s hexagonal pattern has reminiscences of the simplified organic forms found on the seabed. It combines the ample possibilities offered by the unique geometric pattern used in the development of its steel structure and fabric, in a merge of unequal forms that speak the same language.

The cleanness of the structure, formed by three interweaved skids, shows a visual lightness that disguises its real firmness.

By simply choosing the appropriate fabric, Tuex can be used both in open spaces or at home.

Here, Tuex is shown in its version for open spaces, in a fretwork neoprene fabric which, due to its elastic properties, allows a complete tension of the material and provides a contradictory visual contrast with the comfort of the chair. Additionally, neoprene has all the advantages of a material designed for outdoor aquatic sports.

For its use at home, Tuex is provided in a tridimensional fretwork that is fixed to the structure with a nautical rope, allowing an easily removal and cleaning of the cloth while taking advantage of the stackable properties of Tuex.

We also offer the possibility of developing Tuex in different leather designs.

Tuex offers a mixture of concepts and forms that make it a perfect companion to enjoy the best moments of your day.

Nude – IED Barcelona exhibits thesis projects developed jointly with Zicla

The IED (European Institute of Design), Barcelona, and Zicla, a company that specialises in recycled products for construction, collaborated on a multidisciplinary thesis project for the academic year 2007/2008. Five groups of students were formed from interior, industrial, and graphic design courses. Their objective was to research and manipulate recycled materials provided by Zicla, as well as to raise awareness of respect for the environment. They worked primarily with three materials (recycled car mats, plastics and foams) and were asked to study their properties by manipulating them (touching, folding, heating, wetting, cutting, cooking, etc.). After examining the materials, the groups chose one each and, depending on its characteristics, proposed suitable uses for the material or created new products from it.

La Linea – Banco Urbano (Urban Bench)

Birgit Eschenlor and Kalle Ehlers, Interior Design students, chose the recycled car mats for their thesis project, and proposed the possibility of integrating sustainability into the urban space of a city like Barcelona.

Leve – Jardín Interior (Interior Garden)
Caroline Nergaard, Francisco Tejada (Industrial Design) and Txema Hernandez (Graphic Design) also decided on the car mats. Their project concentrated particularly on the study of the amount of living space that each person needs and how optimal distance between people can vary depending on culture and environment. Optimal distance is a psychological term that describes and explains how the individual can feel comfortable among a lot of people.

Reverse – Cojín de Emergencia (Emergency Cushion)
Alon Tal (Industrial Design) and Fabio Alvarez (Graphic Design) opted to work with the recycled foam. The group questioned the role of design in society. In carrying out their project, they looked at different societies and analysed how design featured in each one.

Mome – Sistema Expositivo (Expo System)
Liane Prause (Interior Design) and Stephanie Voves (Graphic Design) chose the recycled plastic for their project. The work focused on sustainable design. They wondered if, apart from sentimental reasons, people kept objects because they were icons from a particular period.

25:1 – Emergency Design
Alex Gunnarsson (Interior Design) also worked with the car mats. The central theme of his project was article 25.1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which declares that “everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing, medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.”

IED Barcelona

Since 1966, the IED has worked in training and research in the areas of Design, Fashion, Visual Arts, and Communications. Today, the IED is an international network catering to 9,000 students of 50 different nationalities at its schools in Milan, Rome, Turin, Venice, Madrid, Barcelona and Sao Paolo. It offers three-year courses at university level and professional specialisation, advanced training, and masters courses.

Starts in 2003 as a non-profit organization, covering activities such as product and furniture design, as well as organizing and interior designing exhibitions.

March 2007 Kiitos Design stablished as a creative studio. The association gives way to the company.

Ana Pérez Aguilar and Eva del Cotillo Contrí are running Kiitos Design today.

Our activity is Industrial Design, touching fields from furniture to interior design. Nowadays, our interests are those of an Industrial Design team: not just sticking to mere aesthetics, but looking for solutions to find a cleaner, more ecological, easier world; and in this sense, more beautiful.

Felt protective tablecloths
Made in contrasted colours felt. Upper layer is cut and joins the lower making one piece. Feel the textures, feel at home, feel yourself back at grandma’s…

Feel, felt, felt.
Felt cloths and rugs are inspired on those crochet table cloths that our grandma’s used to make and put everywhere. The protective function is still valuable, whilst its shape and view have been revisited. Felt are made out of coloured wool, in 1 mm layers for the tablecloths.

Roof carpet
Soft felt tiles give shape to a carpet made to dream or walk barefoot, to feel the warmth of wool in the coldest winter evenings. It suggests the idea of having a roof of our own, to look at the stars or the moon just inside of our living room. Wool felt gives resistance and durability to this carpet of soft and pleasant shapes.6 mm pieces are layered in a two-pitched roof. A soft and nice roof where to feel catlike. Roof is made in greyish blue for northern roofs and in dark orange for mediterranean ones.

Luigi flowerpot & candleholder
Stockable piece Luigi allows users to pass a flower through it as long as needed by adding more or less items. On the same time, the cuts on its base are not casual but are thought to hold a candle on them. Luigi can be rearranged at every moment to meet the needs of the user.

The Big Piece room divider
The big piece grows as much as needed, giving an organic and irregular look to the spaces. Three modular pieces on double corrugated cardboard, match like in a puzzle, so it’s simple to build a divider in minutes. The same plane can be generated in horizontal; this increases the constructive possibilities.

The big piece is specially interesting for ephemeral spaces, being cardboard an ecological and cheap material.

With the waste generated by the big piece, leftovers is created , a lamp with lots of little cardboard pieces that remind us the old classics in gold and crystal, but in a more accessible version.

This couple philosophizes about use and waste products of today, and how we use long life materials to get tired of our furniture in few years. Please remember to recycle yours in the paper waste container.

Taxi stools
The woolen felt balls upholstery for these stools is inspired in the taxi drivers massage seats, typical at least in Spain. The base was mechanized with a numerical control machine in a soft material for the prototype, but it can be made of wood, plastic or iron with different techniques.

This kind of upholstery gives the softnes of the inner foam and of the outer fabric in only one material, a natural one: wool.

Space Nude 2008
As well as furniture and objects, we like to work with ephemeral architecture. In nude08, we’ve tried to generate a neutral ambience in which every one of the 34 different projects was well supported by the space. On the other hand we wanted to give a touch, something that turned visitors heads towards the young designers’ space. That’s the reason of the magenta lines around every greyscale space.

Nude meeting point, in the center of the whole nude08, was a square thought to enjoy the talks organized by Lladró during the fair. The softblocks used as walls, improve the sound inside the square, avoiding every noise from the corridor. The mountain of cubes can be seen from far, announcing the space.

Cool Vie Bohème, Romantic table for young couples with minimun wage. Simple structure for small places. This table turns the functional looking into a nice looking. The piece is as poor as lovely. Table pieces: Just one trestle, flowerpot rings, plates, glasses… and a very much in love couple.

La Mamba Studio, a new young Spanish creative group makes its debut at Valencia Furniture Show in Spain. With an entrepreneur character and eagerness by finding out new solutions & material usage for furniture sector, La Mamba shows 3 stands with a common philosophy & own identity.

This table, inspired by the waves of the sea and the Mediterranean culture, is perfect to interact / socialised at cocktails or events and represents the future of Valencian design. Endowed with a strong & sculptural personality, it does not forget its functional aspect being a simple design to be used in the most exclusive catering.

Made of LG Hi-Macs, got the first award at The Design Contest from LG Hi-Macs, was shown at Milan 2008 in Tortona Zone last April and it has been selected by the Youth Institute for the Injuve 2008 Award

At the end, it was be shown from 23-27th September at the 7th NUDE Edition in Habitat Show,Valencia.

Panelate Project

In cooperation with  Panelate, MDF decorative panels manufacturer and with the support of the Didlab Group, La Mamba shows its furniture collection called “four stories” As a part of this collection there is a funny container-table and a sophisticated triple chair that has been named “Whisper Chair”. Some pieces of furniture that shows La Mamba´s  search of personal language & the Panelate´s  infinite possibilities as a decorative element & new material for making furnitures.

Drombo Collection

Is the ceramica a coating material? Can have it another usages? These are the questions that an important company of the ceramica sector such as Dune Direction posted some months ago. At that moment they had the opportunity  to colaborate with”La Mamba Studio” with the purpose of  experiencing and maximising its material usage and applications.

The results is the “Drombo”, a sofa &  armchairs made of vitreus ceramica with organics shapes. Its presentation at the Nude stand is an important milestone and the trial to check how this experience is going to be understood by the public and potential customers

Orion is an outdoor stackable seat for installations. Inspired by the starlight of the Orion constellation and visually as light as the stars.

Seating on Orion is an invitation to see a shooting star on a summer night, near the sea, with your feet in the sand, sweet music and perfect company, trying to guess where the Orion constellation is in the dark sky.

Snowhite is a lighting design for outdoors and indoors that can be used alone or in a group. It´s light creates a subtle atmosphere giving different sensations used separating areas or creating a wall of light-trees.

Why ENEA?

The relationship with this natural plant is basically based upon the natural spirit that the studio communicates with its projects. There are always feedbacks with nature, and each element that is involved with it. (The sea, leaves falling in autumn…).

ENEA STUDIO, an invitation to emotional design

With a quick view at the origin of its name, it appears the studio’s personality and spirit is conveyed in every project. There is a new idea spawned, materialized from a concept and then it is released to the public audience then transformed into sensations and experiences. The products are considered as an emotional income for the public.

Connecting with public is a priority in the development of the different projects. This connection involves evoking in them different sensations and feelings:

ENEA STUDIO, work and projects.

ENEA STUDIO offers two working lines. In the first one, products are thought, developed and produced by the same studio. The second working line is relocated directly with the function of a design studio, in which there are specialist design area disciplines such as graphic, product and interior design.

ENEA STUDIO is composed by two young Spanish designers: Verónica Martínez, B.A in Arts and Interior Design (University of Barcelona, Spain) and Alberto Sánchez, B.A. Industrial Design and Graphic Design, (Politecnic University of Valencia).

Both of them have seen how their work has been supported with many prizes, which highlights them as a strong working team.

Professionalism and creativity are shown in each of Verónica and Alberto’s work. “With ENEA STUDIO’s projects which are exhibited in ‘Salone Satellite of Milan’-Mare, Swing, Orion and Wave- we aim to standout from the others with creative solutions that provoke a sense of emotion in the viewing audience’.

‘Salone Satellite of Milan’ is the opportunity for ENEA’s products to be recognized in the international spotlight.

ENEA STUDIO

Marina68 is a interdisciplinar design studio from Barcelona formed by a young team that bets by the innovation and the creativity. It proposes a new and personal contemporary look based in the interaction with our surroundings, the almost forgotten tradition and the toy like element of inspiration.

Parkids Is a bold collection of pieces that present new typologies so much by his aesthetics and by his versatile use. His original design characterizes the collection with a playful identity that looks for to relate emotionally with the users through soft forms, merry colours and opposite textures.

Woody is a seat in risky proportions they colors and textures offers a comfortable place to be. Both the cuved structure plate as the seat and back are padded with Gabriel’s fabrics The legs made on natural wood

Blabla is a chair that offers a pleasant and relaxed sleep of clear Mediterranean reminiscences. Poses a unique combination of nature and warmth by the use of natural fibers and coldness and stiffness of the metal structure. A chair is designed to work in a team which makes it ideal for a contract proposed.

Rockit is a piece of organic aspect is its soft shapes and finishes for the exceptional use has been made of cork. It is a clear testing of materials and their possibilities to get a totally sculptural appearance. Nice touch of utility and versatility, playing with the incitement of the user to enjoy its velvety touch.

Tupa is an original and unusual stool strange that arouses expectations regarding its function and appearance. It combines the use of cork a near material adaptable to the body, natural color and metal, into forms of colors to personalize the piece giving it a fun and playful character. From cork and pigheaded with a tubular metal legs available in four colors.

100pies is presented as a sofa adaptable to the diverse needs of the user due to the mobility of all its parts. The cushions of irregular shapes also offer several positions like the peculiar pice wildcard that supplements it. It is designed to give personality to large spaces and offers the possibility, if desired, to use the two sides.
Both soft and asymmetrical forms as varied and its striking use of color makes the piece an unusual and unique in its kind, which proposes a friendly and dynamic experience.

TICO AND TICA, two models inspired by tradition
Let us introduce “Tico and Tica”, two likeable models inspired by the traditional and popular chairs that our elders used for their outdoor chats. Continuing what is an essentially Mediterranean style, these are intended for the interior of the home and contract environments.

Tico is inspired by the male back, while Tica is evocative of a female hip. These two new models are made of beech wood, both sides being lacquered in matt white and the heads being of visible unpainted wood. The seat is upholstered in a fabric that is reminiscent of old seats of twined bulrush.

CATRET, the divine sensation
The “Catret”, a relic of our forebears’ lifetimes, goes beyond the spiritual sphere in which it was normally used to reach our homes, never losing its unique character. It is a folding chair that works as a light and practical accessory. It is a fun way to take a seat. It comes in high-gloss, white lacquered beech wood with a seat made of rigid strips of fabric.
