Rainwater collector

A sheet of powder coated aluminium the shape and purpose of which, drawing inspiration from

the plant kingdom, enables water on terraces or balconies to be gathered.

reLEAF may be planted directly in a flowerpot or in a watering can in order to increase the gathering surface.

Jug and glasses

The material chosen for this set is a reference to earthenware flowerpots. The top of the cylindrical jug may be used in two ways. One of the sides is made of a pouring lip for serving water while the other is reminiscent of a watering can’s head.

refresh-detail

After having drunk, the user may water his/her plants with the surplus remaining in the jug and the glasses. All of the water drawn from the tap thus gets used.

Enamelled ceramic

26cm x diam. 9cm (jug), 9cm x diam. 8cm (glass)

reFLECT (2007)

Lamppost

In the manner of a stalk, this lampshade may be fixed in the earth of interior flowerpots. The latter thus become lamp feet. The lamp both enlightens the room and becomes a profitable light source for the plant. A symbiosis is at work between the two elements.

White powder coated aluminium and steel

reCOVER (2007)

Umbrella-hanger

Small garden tools inspire the material and basic typology of this object. The haft is made of beech, wood traditionally used for this kind of implement. A few branches, however, have « grown » here and there thus pointing at a simplified and geometrized tree. The extremity is forked and may be thrust in any interior flowerpot. The user may hang his/her umbrella or coat, thus causing the plant to recuperate the drops of water.

FULGURO

Fulguro Studio is a Lausanne (Switzerland) based collaboration between Cédric Decroux and Yves Fidalgo. They teamed up during training years at ECAL (Ecole cantonale d’art de Lausanne) and have been working since 2002 in various fields, such as furniture and product design, interior architecture and graphic design.

Throughout their career they have been emphasizing the connection that man fosters with water and the vegetal in dwelling.

Several research projects such as the concepts reHOUSE, reHOUSE/BATH and GREEN SHUTTER have been developed around this theme. They further pursue this reflection at this year’s Salone Satellite during the Milan Furniture Fair 2007, presenting a collection of four products: reLEAF, reCOVER, reFRESH and reFLECT.

Design studio Fulguro are Yves Fidalgo and Cédric Decroux. They joined forces while studying at the Ecole cantonale d’art de Lausanne (ECAL). Based in Lausanne, Switzerland, they have worked across a range of disciplines including furniture, product and graphic design since 2001.

While studying, they took part into a national artistic comptetition with 9 other artists, graphic designers and architects for Expo.02. Winning one of the 5 first prizes, they had the opportunity to mount an exhibition called «Territoire Imaginaire» that gave a vision of an imaginary Switzerland.

After graduating, their first commissioned work was an installation for a retrospective on the work of Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec at the Design Museum in London. They made an animation movie entitled «Motion Notebook» that brought sketchbooks into life.

After this, they have been commissionned for various jobs like communication projects for cultural events, product design for the Swiss federal railway company or the interior design of an independant cinema.

They recently designed the whole open air bar for Nestlé, who had an important presence on the 40th Montreux Jazz festival.

They are now working on the exhibition layout showing the winner works of the National Swiss Design grants as well as on the interior architecture of artists’ residences in Italy.

In june, a small monographic book will be edited by Pyramyd. It will showcase their five first years of activity.

Fulguro. goes on developing their personal research, exploring the blurred boundaries that separate furniture, product design and graphic design.
