The basic thought about the design is to create a comfortable chair. Experiments with materials result in a leather based material-combination. Interesting in this combination is the resulting stability without losing the flexibility of the leather.

In reference to the chair “Passform” the developed material enable the back to be not fitting tightly but rather offering a quantity of scope.

Because of that, the backrest gets a high flexibility, which makes it possible to adapt to the user like a second skin. This quality makes the sitting in different positions to a special experience.

In addition to the function, the form of the chair is also affected by the developed material. Relating to the chair, fine lines with the leather are creating character and its own aesthetics.

Collar is a new product species: It´s an accessory for mobile sleeping. Every­body knows the situation, sitting on a bench waiting for the airplane or trying to catch some sleep on a bustrip. The uncomfortable seats, the bothering noises and the missing privacy make it nearly impossible to fall asleep. Collar tones the noises down and the integra­ted earphones provide the right ambi­ance for a recreative nap.

”Giving objects a regional identity” was the main idea of Emmy Galle’s diploma project in the field of furniture design. “Die Gute Stube“ (approx.“Home Sweet Home“) stands for a cosy and comfortable kind of living in an individual home. The designer’s work was inspired by her own home country in the North of Bavaria. Following old rustic craftsmanship the table “Bazi“ does not lose the contemporary context. Its legs are inserted into two plywood tabletops, which are fixed with small pegs instead of any glue. As these pegs are turned they refer to traditional handicraft paragons.

More stabilisation of the table is guaranteed by a box inset in the two tabletops where one can leave one’s belongings. Finally Emmy Galle attributes her table a similar character as the people from her country: Down to Earth and a little clumsy. But once you got used to its oddities you will love it exactly because of that! hh

The starting point of the development of the textile material or final product respectively was the thought about a seat based on the textile. Concerning the seat, there was the idea of a self-supported or just usable surface.

From series of experiments with materials, an interesting one was chosen and brought into agreement with the aspects of a seat. Striking at the material is the combination of knitted fabrics and elastics, so that different sections are constructed with several parts of strength and flexibility. Thus the developed product is highly affected by the material, which is reflected in function and form. Therefore there is attaching value to the material like the final product as well. For this reason the connection between material and product is harmonious.

The final product “2form” is characterized by deformation from the seconddimension into the third dimension. Because of different parts of strength there is an individual adaptation of the body and its needs. Every Person is possible to form his own form into the chair, so that every time there is an individual form of the seat. Because of the adaptation there is in every position a new comfortable and enjoyable sense of sitting.
